- Lunch - $20.00
- Parking - $162.50
Before I wrote this post, I wanted to make sure that I calmed down from my afternoon luncheon. I must be the only one left in Whitestone that was unaware of the NO parking in the Whitestone shopping center.
The Whitestone shopping center off the Cross Island Service road has a policy that has been in effect for umm, I don't know a week? A month? Who knows. But apparently you are unable to park along the far back fence (last row of parking) unless you have a permit.
This afternoon I stopped in the shopping center to mail out my extension for my taxes and to have a quick lunch with my sister in law. I was in the shopping center for a total of 30 minutes when I find out that my car had been towed. Apparently the shopping center landlord has instituted a "NO Parking" rule along the far fence of the lot. Mr. Rico, the landlord, has employed the ever so NOT nice towing company Infinity Towing.
How was I to know? The nearest sign of the rule was 20 spots to my right and 15 spots to my left. I never noticed the 3x6 signs that are placed so far apart. When I discovered that my car was indeed towed, I was instructed to call the towing company - Infinity.
I was told on the phone by the dispatcher that I could either come pick up my car from their lot in 1 hour for $108.00 OR have the car returned to me in twenty minutes, at the shopping center for $162.50. So, this means that my car never made it to the lot, Infinity just MOVED my car to an area outside of the shopping center (I think Francis Lewis Blvd.).
IRATE? ohhhhh a bit.. When the (use a few choice words at your own discretion) men, came to "drop" off my car, they insisted on me paying BEFORE they drop the car. (are ya thinking I was scammed yet)? After my huge display of disgust and my preaching to the (your own choice words) men of how horrible they are, I discovered that not only did the TOW my car but the also BROKE into my car (alarm automatically sets after 30 seconds, with locks) and placed the car in neutral and wrapped the seatbelt around the steering wheel. Is this even legal?
I will be posting pictures of the (choice words again, here) men of Whitestone parking lot tommorrow.
Another dissatified Whitestone shopper (scroll down to the last letter to read).
